Submerged; immersed, flooded, under water. This element is also the origin of our name, meerestief, as well as an inspiration, a source of ideas and a beacon for our creativity. In the spring of 2007 we decided to call our first mix compilation Wassermusik (water music) because of it.Our labels contours have been enhanced, rinsed clean and have become more defined over the past 18 months. Almost 20 releases have been added to our catalogue since, numerous new acts some known some not, some seasoned some newly discovered have joined the meerestief family.On one hand our labels profile is clearly defined but on the other it is always in flux, growing, bouncing off the riverbanks getting different spins and new twists. Well, we said; A fire can be quenched but water will always find a way, when we released our first compilation. Thats as true today as it was back then.Our second compilation Submerge is living proof of that. The main point is that only previously un-released material by meerestief acts and producers we like will be included. These 12 tracks represent Meerestiefs flavour at the present moment in time which has become warmer, deeper, more playful, richer, more harmonic and less predictable of late. You can tell it packs some punch.On the surface, as well as underneath it. Credit must go to the main man behind this project. Submerge was compiled and mixed by our in-house top act Lucy who has been busy for some time now composing and re-mixing a hell of a lot of tracks for meerestief and who is a regular fixture on our international label nights.As in the DJ booth, he has an excellent feel for the right selection and combination when creating a mix, a skill that he displays in the studio as well. He sets off dreamy and romantic at the beginning, changes to driving and punchy in the middle and becomes deep and emotional towards the end.
