Dont be afraid to turn up the volume! Not all ambient music is quiet Psychonavigation Records presents the new album from Seattle based producer Gel Sol. K8ema is the stunning follow up to 2008s IZ. Gel Sol (aka Andrew Reichel), whose dichotomous sound spans from ambient soundscapes to complex, rhythmic electronica, creating a dynamic psychedelic universe with heavy emphasis on improvisation. His influences range from 70s prog and kraut rock to electronic and psychedelic. In his own words the artist says; The music on this album is a logical progression from the last album IZ. Like its predecessor k8ema was written for my niece, and features psychedelic ambient with a dash of orchestral influences. For the last few years, I have been meeting up with various Seattle producers for improv sessions, with the music spanning genres ranging from lush ambient to crusty IDM. I obsessively archived most of the sessions and later began archiving them via multitrack recording. I then scoured the material, listening for little blocks of genius to integrate into existing Gel Sol work.Eventually those archives will culminate in an entire album, a mash-up of sorts. Im not sure my improvisational colleagues realize the full potential of this idea, so I hope to one day present them with an album so they can hear what can be done, and hopefully make their own albums using this wonderful music that came straight out of our heads. Until then, I give you K8EMA, the newest planet in the Gel-Sol universe.Dont be afraid to turn up the volume! Not all ambient music is quiet...
