Trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist, Lakay discovered electronic music in the year 2000. Influenced by both traditional and underground origins, his live act is a soft journey swinging between electronic synths and the melodies of traditional instruments such as the jazz trumpet, Thai seung and Spanish guitar. Following a debut album shortlisted at the “Découvertes du Printemps de Bourges 2012”, Cyril Caillat aka Lakay is presenting his second rich and colourful album: “Métis’Sage Community”. As he gathers artists from varied horizons around himself such as the jazz saxophonist Renaud Vincent, the sensible voice of Robert Spline and Sir Jean’s dynamic flow, Lakay also explores Reunion folklore with the band Jo et Malasé producing a perfectly mastered cover of a Danyèl Waro title, emblematic figure of the Maloya movement. The outcome is a sonic concentrate inspired by various origins from all corners of the world; all fused on a layer of dub, jungle and psytrance, creating a new musical breed that is both captivating and energetic. Métis’Sage is due to come out on Hadra Records on 29th May 2015 in co-production with Salamah Productions. Music is a journey, a soft journey of the mind, allowing it to explore the world.
