Details

The legendary SUNS OF ARQA release their 40th album 'The Wolf of Badenoch', an epic masterpiece based on the life of Alexander Stewart, Earl of Buchan who was the third surviving son of King Robert II of Scotland, making him the great-grandson of Robert the Bruce. This album takes you on a deep hypnotic journey through the life of one of Scotland's most notorious historical figures. SUNS OF ARQA formed in 1979, and are veterans of the live circuit, having played Glastonbury, Phoenix, WOMAD and other major festivals many times over the years, as well as collaborating with acts such as 808 State, A Guy Called Gerald, John Leckie, John Cooper Clarke and countless others. 'The Wolf of Badenoch' was performed as a stage show at last year's Belladrum Festival, and at Celtic Connections in Glasgow. "Many bands claim to deal in global fusion music, but few have as firm a claim on the genre as the Suns of Arqa" – All Music Guide Among the musicians playing on this album are the legendary Highland Bagpipe player John Snelson, and Riverdance and Afro Celt Sound System original Uilleann Piper Ronan Browne, together they weave hypnotic spells over Indian classical ragas courtesy of Johar Ali Khan on Rudra Violin, Bansuri maestro Raghunath Seth and the mesmeric vocals of Sanyogita Kumari.
